The Seminole High School Dazzler Dance Team is more than just your ordinary high school dance team with extraordinary direction.

Director, Maureen Maguire, graduated from Seminole High School in 1978 and then went on to graduate from Seminole Community College in 1981 and then later graduated from The University of Central Florida in 1983. Mrs. Maguire’s first daughter, Shannon, was born in 1982, and her second daughter, Megan, was born in 1986. Before reaching Seminole High School, Mrs. Maguire, taught at Teague Middle School and Lakeview Middle School. At Seminole, Mrs. Maguire taught both dance and math. She became the director of the Dazzler Dance Team in 1983. The Expressions Color Guard was set up in 1998. Mrs. Maguire has been married for 26 years to Mr. Maguire, the director of the Choral Department at Seminole High School.

Assistant Director, Shannon Maguire, graduated from Seminole High School in 2000 and then attended Florida State University for a year. At FSU, Ms. Maguire was a Golden Girl Dancer. In 2002, Ms. Maguire transferred to The University of Central Florida. In 2004 she graduated with a Bachelors degree in psychology. Since 2002, Ms. Maguire worked with the Dazzler Dance Team. She has been a choreographer for several groups, including: The Seminole High School Dazzlers, Destiny Show Choir, Lawton Chiles High School, Pine Ridge High School, and the USF Sun Dolls. Ms. Maguire has taught at Studio 5D from 2001-2002, as a UDA camp instructor from 2000-2003, and at Seminole High School in both algebra and dance. Ms. Maguire has also worked for Oviedo High School, Leesburg High School, and with the Color Guard Team at Lake Mary High School.

The philosophy behind Maureen Maguire (The Dazzler Promise) is that regardless of the level of dance prior to entering the dance team, hard work will allow you to succeed. She hopes that her dancers learn life lessons through the artwork of dance, such as to never give up and to never get discouraged. She strongly believes that hard work is the answer and that discipline, honesty, character, and morality will show through in dance as well as in life.

Without the energy and direction from both directors and the commitment of the Students, the Dazzler Dance Team would not be as successful as it is today.
